Echoes from the Tower marks a new transmission for C▲B. Departing from the punk, emo and hardcore foundations of The Three Hares and Archangelus Mortis Triumphans, the band's third album moves through synth-pop, new wave and alternative rock, with traces of the sound that came before.
The change begins with Echo. Hidden within the abandoned signal tower at the Signal Garden are fragments of the before times… forgotten recordings, unfamiliar genres, broken broadcasts and stranger signals that seem to come from somewhere beyond the world the band knows. For Cyn, Beta and Arc, whose musical vocabulary was shaped by inherited records, tapes and CDs and the music they learned to make themselves, these discoveries open an entirely new landscape.
Across tracks like “Book of Prophecy” and “PostCards,” uncertainty, fading memory and isolation begin giving way to curiosity, connection and the possibility of something beyond the familiar. Even the past sounds different from here: the album closes by reimagining “Southern California” and “Street Lights” through this newly discovered sonic vocabulary.
If the first chapters of C▲B were about surviving, remembering and finding one another, Echoes from the Tower is about looking outward. From their small community inside the tower, the band begins to wonder what else might be out there… and, for the first time, whether someone might be listening back.
